Central Singapore's Modern Pool

Jalan Besar Swimming Complex opened in June 2003 as part of a $30 million expansion of the Jalan Besar Stadium precinct. The investment brought modern sporting facilities to one of Singapore's oldest neighbourhoods.

The complex is part of the larger Jalan Besar Sports Centre, which also includes the historic Jalan Besar Stadium (built 1929, rebuilt 2002) used for football matches and athletics. The swimming complex was designed to serve the dense residential areas around Farrer Park, Lavender and Little India.

With 8 lanes in the competition pool and a well-equipped wading area with slides and fountains, Jalan Besar attracts both serious lap swimmers and families. Its central location and proximity to Farrer Park MRT make it one of the most accessible public pools in Singapore.

What's at Jalan Besar

Three outdoor pools including a full 50-metre competition pool, teaching pool and wading pool with slides and fountains.

50m Competition Pool

Eight-lane outdoor competition pool with starting blocks. Open for lap swimming daily except Tuesdays. Early morning access on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 6:30 AM to 8:00 AM.

Teaching Pool

Shallower pool used for swimming lessons and casual swimming. Suitable for beginners and children progressing beyond the wading pool.

Wading Pool with Slides & Fountains

Shallow wading pool with water slides and fountain features. Designed for young children. A favourite for weekend family outings.
